Players

Matches and Tours

Matches and tours are scheduled to complement the players existing rugby commitments and assist the students in attaining their full rugby potential. All events will apprear in the 'Matches and Tours' section as soon as confirmed, however players will be contacted in advance of matches and tours which may be relevant to them.

Selection

Selection is based strictly on the individual merit of each player. Although this requires players to make every effort to follow the WRU Player Progression Development Route alongside their academic committments, the Welsh Academicals has a strong record of developing emerging talent from college, university, and community rugby.

Personnel

The current Welsh Academicals coaching and management staff are all WRU qualified coaches who have achieved success against student national teams from England, Australia, Scotland, and Portugal. The Welsh Academicals Executive Committee currently includes 6 former Welsh internationals of which 3 also played for the British Lions, former coaches to Wales U21 and Wales B, the current operations manager of the RBS Six Nations, a former Chair of the governing body of university sport in Wales, and the current President of the Welsh Rugby Union.
