Rob McCusker becomes Welsh international 172.
During the recent Wales v South Africa match, Rob McCusker became the 172nd player from the club to gain full international honours.
A product of Mold RFC and the age grade teams of the Gogledd Cymru region, he toured Portugal with the Welsh Academicals in 2006.
This was soon followed by selection for Wales at age grade level and then appearances for Wales 7s in the build up to their World Cup success.

Jamie Roberts school coach re-joins the Accies.
Former Pontypool and Accies player Dai Williams has been appointed to the Executice Committtee of the Welsh Academicals, where he will assist on the playing side.
At Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf, Dai has helped produce talents such as Jamie Roberts, Player of the Tour for the Lions recently, as well as Tom Isaacs who played in Wales' World Cup 7s winning team last year.

Accies original pitch returned to former glory.
After extensive renovation, the ground where the Accies played their first ever game has been returned to pristigne condition. The compact Recreation Ground, off Woodland Street in Mountain Ash was the home of Mountain Ash RFC until they relocated in 1994 to the first class playing and spectating facilities at Parc Dyffryn Pennar.
The 'Rec' will now be the base for the junior section of MARFC, providing excellent facilities for future generations of young players. |

Accie selected for Heineken Cup quarter final squad.
The Ospreys have added Jo Rees to their Heineken Cup squad preparing for the quarter final against Biarittz Olympique.
Rees played in the Accies victory over Japan U20s last year and made a winning debut for Wales U20s against Italy last week.
The Ospreys face Biarritz on Saturday April 10th, in San Sebastian, Spain. |

Young Accies on international duty.
Players who represented the Welsh Academicals last year, stepped up to the international stage on the weekend, with success for all involved.
Jo Rees made a starting debut for Wales Under 20s on Friday against Italy.
Meanwhile, in Melrose on Sunday, Cory Hill, Sam Campbell, Joseff Griffin and Harley Thompson played for Wales Under 18s in their 30-18 victory over Scotland. Owen Sheppeard has also been selected to start against England on Sunday. |

Keith Rowlands Memorial Match
Sunday 11th May 2008.
The match was played in memory of Keith Rowlands, the late President of the Welsh Academicals and the Welsh Rugby Union.
A former player with Llanelli, London Welsh, Cardiff, Wales and the British Lions, he then emulated his playing career as an administrator with Cardiff RFC and the WRU, before progressing to become the first Chief Executive of the International Rugby Board. For full details of the match

Gerald Davies to manage the Lions
November 2007
Welsh Academicals President Gerald Davies has been appointed manager for the 2009 British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa. Having toured both South Africa and New Zealand as a player with the Lions, he will now head a management team with the coaches to be appointed next year. He currently combines his duties as a WRU National Representative and the WRU representative on the International Rugby Board, with contributions in the Times newspaper. |

From Accies to All Blacks
October 2007
Last years Welsh Academicals Tour of Portugal took on an extra signifcance after this years Rugby World Cup.
The final fixture of the tour was upgraded to a match against the senior Portugal national team, at the time attempting to qualify for the IRB Rugby World Cup 2007. After Portugals successfull qualification the Welsh Academicals can now be seen on the same fixture roster as the New Zealand All Blacks.

Dennis Gethin, WRU President
September 2007
The former Welsh Academicals Chairman and Secretary has been elected President of the Welsh Rugby Union. Following a playing career with Welsh Schools, Cambridge University, Welsh Academicals and several of Wales' Premier clubs, he subsequently held the position of Secretary with the Union. His involvement with the Accies' continues as a current member of the Executive Committee. |

Former Wales and British Lions wing Gerald Davies has become the new President of the Welsh Academicals.
Following an illustrious career with Cambridge University, Welsh Academicals, London Welsh, Wales and the British Lions, he is currently a National Representative on the Welsh Rugby Union as well as the WRU Representative on the International Rugby Board. West Wales 7s Winners
June 2007
With a history of competing in tournaments such as the Hong Kong 7s, the Welsh Academicals returned to the 7s circuit following an invitation to compete in the West Wales 7s.
